ELSA Copenhagen Summer Seminar "Energy Law and Sustainability

The Copenhagen local groups hosts their annual seminar in 2012 from the 6th through the 12th August on the hot legal topic "Energy Law and Sustainability".

The main point of the seminar will be the fact that the EU is becoming more dependent on the import of fossil fuel, and that the CO2 levels are constantly increasing. As a result of this, it is necessary to develop new and sustainable energy sources to maintain the energy source integrity of the EU.
Based on this perspective, we are primarily going to focus on the EU regulatory matters of the area.

The purpose of the seminar is to inform about the present situation regarding the area on energy regulation and the exploration of sustainable energy sources. Who decides the agenda? How is the responsibility divided between government and the energy sector? What is the current situation, and what is the main objective for the future? How is the environment secured against extraction of the non-sustainable oil and gas? What trade regulations are being introduced to protect the environment? What are CO2 emission quotes, and how does the concept function?

The seminar will in addition to the professional part also be offering a number of social events, which purpose is to give some variation during the day. The purpose is also meant to give the opportunity to get to know each other across all the different countries. There will be a number of tours around our beautiful city, and also visits to businesses that are relevant to the subject of the seminar.

Furthermore there will be a gala party by the end of the week.
